Slamez en français!

La Francophonie is not only about French Speaking Countries per se, it is also about the communities and their cultures, using French as their common language. The Dossier Spécial Francophonie  of the Franc-Parler website features a great teaching resource called "Slamez en français".

Slam, a speech form, born in the 80s in Chicago has become hugely popular in French speaking countries since the 2000s. Slam combines poetry, eloquence and improvisation, The "Fiche pratique" includes an introduction to slam with a "How to" video, podcasts and video clip from Grand Corps Malade. Those are great to introduce slam to your students. Should you wish to incorporate Slam in your teaching, several fiches pédagogiques, illustrating videos and links to archive are also available from this Fiche Pratique. Could this be an other way to free oral expression in the classroom?

The three following worksheets, created by Noelene Taylor (Tauranga Girls College) are very useful for students to acquire, retain and practise prescribed L2 vocabulary related to the topic.  Noelene's samples sentences give students confidence to build their own, and they work on giving and responding to advice, warnings and suggestions (7.2) with the Imperative practice activity.
