Mômes.net

"Mômes.net Premiers pas sur l'Internet" is a French website dedicated to young users and offers, amongst others, a forum as well as a range of cultural and educational activities. Targeting mother tongue users, it offers though a great range of traditional Comptines and Chansons that you may wish to use with beginner learners.  The Mini-Dossiers can provide useful information in relatively simple French on a range of current issues (environment, healthy eating, animals, leisure activities etc.) which can be of interest from Level 4 up learners.

TBL - Les Stéréotypes

Manu Ménard (St Matthews Collegiate) is sharing his 4-lesson lesson plan "with whoever is keen to do a task-based activity" (sic!) .  Based on a list of Vrai-Faux-Stéréotypes statements, students are initally exposed to spoken and written French before embarking in their learning through recognising and using the negative and building an argument.  Manu's detailed lesson plans take you through the progressive stages of these four lessons, with particular emphasis on using French throughout and by leaving the decision making with the students, while covering all skills. To read more about Task-Based Learning and find tasks for a range of Levels, read "Task-Based approach to teaching is motivating and effective" by Manu.

TBL - Est-ce un fait?

Manu Ménard (St Matthews' Collegiate) continues to graciously share with us his comprehensive knowledge in the pedagogy of Task Based Learning. The level 4 activity "Est-ce un fait?" engages students in differentiating between a fact and an opinion, discussing in groups and reporting to the class their findings while incorporating an emphasis on the use of comparatives and the use of modifiers. Manu presented this activity in his workshop at the NZALT Conference 2010.
